One Thought Can Transform Your Outlook

I’m often asked what our daily inspirations on our Linkedin page, FB page, etc. have to do with The COMO group- a company which specializes in personal & professional Transformation. My Co-Founder, Christine Strobush and I will also hear comments like, “Isn’t that time consuming? How do you generate business leads from posting daily quotes on your social media? Are you doing that for charity? What’s the reason for it?” I can’t help but smile every time I am asked that question.

Almost a year ago, when we first launched our company, the pandemic was just beginning. Christine and I had both just been laid off from our corporate jobs. We were informed almost daily, of others that had either lost their jobs, or gotten ill from the pandemic or lost friends and family. My life partner is a physician and would come home sharing his experience of illnesses and deaths due to the pandemic. When we hopped on calls with others, we would see how deflated people were starting to look and many of them, despite usually being quite positive people, seemed like they were losing hope.

As we were working on our start-up business plan, we often talked about the kind of culture we wanted to foster for our company. We looked back and reflected on many lessons learned from our greater than forty combined years of working in the corporate world. We’ve all heard phrases like “stop and smell the roses” or “seize the day.” It dawned on us, however, that not many people actually do this - especially in a work setting. Everyone seems to be so caught up in the busyness of their jobs and their lives, that often they forget to pause and reflect for a moment. It is vital to stop and smell the roses! In fact, we should all focus on what we have to be grateful for and we can gain a lot by having a positive mindset. Daily inspirations have been something that Christine and I have pursued for as long as we can remember and we wanted to share this with our community and our network.

Why use daily inspirations?

-
Inspirations can serve as a reminder of what is important and a reminder of priorities. For example, if self-development is important to you then you may choose to reference inspirations focused on this theme.
-
When there is doubt or uncertainty, daily inspirations can serve as an anchor or bring you back to more positive considerations. With all the uncertainty and negativity in the world, inspirations can provide hope and reinforce positive messages.
-
When you’re trying to Transform and/or grow, personally and/or professionally, inspirations can serve as a motivator. They can be a reminder that you are stronger than you think or they can serve to remind you of what you can achieve.
-
As people we aspire to goals. We want to look up to role models and recognized leaders because of what they have accomplished. Their messages are often powerful and passed on for years because of who they are and what they have achieved.

When you create a habit of, not only looking at daily inspirations, but also reflecting on them, you will notice a positive change in your outlook and promote a positive mindset.

Integrate daily inspirations into your day-to-day:

-
Start your day with a daily inspiration. Try to create a set time within your routine when you will do this. You can follow us on Linkedin or Facebook @thecomogroup
-
Open up or close a meeting or meal with an inspiring quote. It can be a conversation starter, help reinforce a message or serve as an inspiration to the group.
-
If you are mentoring an individual or a team, or know of someone struggling with a particular situation, a great way to have a positive impact is by consistently sharing these inspirations.
There are so many ways to use daily inspirations both personally and in your workplace, so get creative and have fun with it. In our latest project, our book, The F Place each chapter begins with a quote. One of my favorites, is..

“It is how we embrace the uncertainty of our lives that leads to the greatest Transformations of our souls.”
-Brandon A. Trean
