Do you know that feeling in your gut when life is hard, stress seems everywhere, and fear abounds? Perhaps you have lost your job and you aren’t sure how you will provide for your family. Or you are struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship or a toxic culture at your company. Whatever your story, did you know that this difficult season could be the catalyst to the greatest Transformation of your life?

I have been there. Fourteen years ago, I was living in McKinney Texas. I had just gone through a gut-wrenching divorce and was a single mother of a young daughter. Fortunately, I had a successful career at a global Telecommunications company, but I was barely keeping my head above water in my personal life. It was during that period of my life that I learned to truly lean into my Christian faith. I discovered the verse Jeremiah 29:11, which became like an anchor for me and, to this day, is my “life verse”. It talks about how God has good plans for us, plans to Prosper us…to give us a hope and a future.

When you think of the word Prosper, what comes to mind? Most dictionaries will say something like “to succeed in material terms, be financially successful” or “to flourish physically; grow strong and healthy”. For the purposes of Personal and Professional Transformation, I challenge you to consider the word Prosper in the broadest possible sense - including financial, family, friendships, relationships, spiritual, career, education, community and so on.

With that perspective in mind, how do you Transform your life and Prosper?

CLARITY – start with gaining a high-definition vision for your life. What are your dreams and goals? What are you good at and what do you love? The intersection of those two are an excellent place to start.

OWNERSHIP – take ownership for your life because no one else is going to do it for you. While you cannot control everything that happens to you, you can control how you respond to the things that happen in your life. If you don’t turn life’s lemons into lemonade, who will?

MEANINGFUL MINDSET – hold on to hope, control your thoughts and make a concerted effort to see the glass as half full. I highly recommend the book “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor Frankl. The author used his personal experience in Nazi concentration camps to develop his theory of logotherapy (Greek word “meaning”) which he believes is the driver of human will.

ONE-OF-A-KIND – recognize and embrace your unique talents, skills, and experiences. You were created for a one-of-a-kind purpose. If you don’t know what that purpose is, I strongly suggest you spend some time figuring it out.

Your Transformation won’t happen overnight, but it will happen. After all, do you want to know what happened to that single mother from fourteen years ago

  • Would you believe that I have the good fortune of living in Prosper, Texas whose theme is “a place where everyone matters”! In fact, I was recently nominated by the Town Council to serve on the Community Engagement Committee. What an incredible honor!

  • My husband Brian Strobush and I will celebrate our 10-year anniversary this year! We are a big, beautiful, blended family with 4 daughters, 1 son, 1 son-in-law and 1 future son-in-law (wedding this July!).

  • I co-founded a business The COMO Group with Sonal Trivedi after we were both laid off (due to the pandemic) from our corporate Transformation jobs on the national day of prayer 2020. That, my friends, is another exciting Transformation story for another day!
